The Sunken Cemetery (2002)
When he was five years old, Ivan Hum was kidnapped and was forced to spend his formative years in orphanages, prisons and other institutions all around Europe, always desperately searching for a way back to his family. Several decades later, he discovers that his mother's grave is located in a small town in northern Croatia and chooses to visit it. However, upon arrival into town, he's told that the local cemetary had been submerged underwater as a result of a swamp flood, so that, if he still wishes to perform the funerary rites properly, he'll have to wait a few more months until the waters recede and the local authorities do something about the situation. He decides to stay, finds a place to stay in a cheap apartment, gets a job and even strikes up a romance with his landlady. But, pretty soon after things arrival, various mysterious incidents start plagueing the township and Ivan convinces himself that they have something to do with his belated return.
