The Deputy's Double Cross (1922)
Deputy sheriff Dick Randall is removed from his position due to the corrupt influence of local thieves. After facing public humiliation, the hero is ordered to leave town, but he firmly refuses to go. The hero is eventually captured by the outlaws and dragged off to their hideout. Meanwhile, his sweetheart (Marty, played by Laura La Plante) rides off to get help. However, the hero manages to free himself and fight back before reinforcements arrive, leading to a clever cops-and-robbers’ conclusion with a twist regarding whose side the deputy was truly on.
